Looking after people.
As a creative director it was my job to know everything about everything. It was also my job to look after everyone, the needs of the client, the creative team, the models, photographers and makeup artists and stylists...and the account managers too. Lol. There's no aires and graces with me. As a creative director I'd step in to help out where-ever I'm needed to ensure great results and happy people. It's the same attitude I brought to portrait photography (pictured) and now as a boudoir and nude art photographer.
Learning from the best.
If you want to learn quickly and learn right, it's good to pick three of the best in that field and learn from them until your own style, abilities and personality naturally rise to the surface. As a photographer, I did just that. I learned the Sue Bryce method of modern glamour portrait photography. I studied Christa Meloa's boudoir photography techniques. I also follow an ever growing group of natural nude and truth photographers from around the world. And I learned all the boring tech stuff, single light and 2,3,4,5 lighting setups. Fashion poses, portrait and boudoir poses coming out my ears :). It didn't take long to find my own voice from there.
Helping you find your voice.
A decent amount of technical skill should be a minimum, the real question then is, does your photographer's vision align with yours. I've photographed hundreds of women of every shape and size, naked and dressed, learned their loves and dislikes, and importantly, their motivations behind wanting to be photographed, and what they need. I learned how different bodies move and what poses work or have to be adapted for the client's comfort. And through that I've developed my unique approach to art nudes and boudoir photography.
Effortless sensuality. And a vision of joy, inclusiveness and celebration of diverse beauty. Does that align with you?
Feeling comfortable to express yourself.
This is truly a safe space so don't be shy about telling me what you need. The requests and enquiries I get are so varied, from being covered in cake and icing, surrounded by balloons, dripped with bubbles, to imitating her favourite pop star in a sexy style and more. No idea is silly as far as I concerned, if I can do it, I'd love to help you achieve it.
Boudoir it turns out is a very international occupation too, and so I've learned much about different women's backgrounds and cultural attitudes to sensuality and beauty over the last couple of years.
All of this has added to an ability to make people comfortable and bring the out the best in them.
And that's what I'll bring to your session too.
And I look forward to it.
Regards Patrick
