Boudoir photography can be done just about anywhere. You're pretty much only limited by your imagination. I love getting out to work in new locations. Exciting places to shoot pop up here and there, all the time. And I'm always happy to hear about interesting places you have in mind for your session.
To be fair most client are perfectly happy at our home studio. But for those with a wandering spirit, the estate is fuelled, my gear is entirely portable and travel ready, and I have wireless studio lights or "goddess lights" as we like to call them that can be set up (just about) anywhere.
Think outside the box for a moment. Unusual places like tea rooms, perhaps you know someone who owns a long boat. Bars and restaurants are often closed during the day and might only ask a small fee for a friend. Love motorcycles or vintage cars? Someone you know might let you shoot in their workshop after hours. I've been looking at micro breweries and the shiny steel vats would be an amazing backdrop. A carnival carousel would be fabulous with all the sparkly lights.
For the more adventurous, why not the great outdoors?
In local forests, although public spaces, there are always more private, secluded spots off the beaten track.
Remote beaches at sunrise or sunset make for beautiful moody images. A hot air balloon? A yacht?, A glamp site? On a hillside. Where would your imagination take you?
Epping Forest is on my doorstep.
Home is where the heart is. I've photographed a few clients in their homes in the past. Some people love the extra connection and sense of self in a familiar space.
We can move furniture around or add a plant or cushion to make it just right.
Not feeling it? Maybe borrow a room from a friend whose home you admire, she could always return the favour for you.
Boutique hotels. Try searching for charming hotels or B&B's in your local area. Choose somewhere in a vibrant area you can always have your photoshoot in the afternoon and head out for the evening afterwards. And make a night of it.
For non-boudoir portraits, a city walk-around photoshoot is always an option. London is a world famous location, with the advantage of iconic locations and cafes to stop for refreshment (and a change of outfit).
There's Airbnb. The variation of properties is fabulous; there's something to suit all tastes. (Just be sure to check with the host that it's OK; their permission is essential).
We also have a selection of venues available. Currently, a villa in Kent, a local dungeon in Walthamstow, and a warehouse-style city apartment in East London, I can even secure a daytime rate at selected hotels. Then, of course, there's our home studio.
